As in rainy seasons or having snow can make very low visibility and that can increase the risk of driving in such conditions so to make sure vision remains at optimum level windshield wipers are came into existence.

The invention of such a commonly used device also very spectacular things because it has come in one’s mind first and he took action to invent such common but regularly needs products. It is very hard to think of a world without windshield wipers which very common and regular device but plays a very important role. Mary Anderson invented a windshield wiper in 1902.

Mary Anderson invented windshield wiper but there is a story behind that which is not that excited or dramatic but it only will depict how she felt the necessity of inventing such a device. One day she was driving a streetcar and water was not good it was snowing at that time. She observed that the streetcar driver has to stop the car and come out of it to clear snow from the windshield. That’s what inspired her to find a solution for it and she invented Windshield wiper and also applied for a patent. The patent application was filed on 18th June 1903. On 10th November 1903, the United States Patent Office awarded Anderson patent number 743,801 for her Window Cleaning Device.
